Moscow. The Russian Olympic Committee was determined on Tuesday that Russia participate in the Tokyo-2020 Olympic Games, confirming that the country’s exclusion from major sports competitions for having falsified anti-doping data will be appealed.
“The Russian Olympic Committee (COR) is a member of law and for all purposes of the Olympic movement, so we have every reason to consider that we are going to form a team for Tokyo, and we will do everything for the team to participate under the flag Russian tricolor, “said Stanislav Pozdniakov, president of COR, at the end of a meeting.
In addition, he confirmed that the COR, as a founding member of the Rusada anti-doping agency, will approve on Tuesday the December 19 decision of its supervisory board not to accept the sanctions pronounced by the World Anti-Doping Agency (AMA).
On December 9, this organization banned Russia from participating for four years in major sporting events, especially the 2020 and 2022 Olympic Games, and the 2022 World Cup.
